MEETING MINUTES

The Chapter meeting was called to order at 11:59 a.m. by Gerald Johnson, Gerald welcomed guest and members in attendance.

 

The total number of members in attendance: (29)

CHAPTER BUSINESS

 

REPORTS:

 

Secretary’s Report:

 

Lou Ann Dollar provided copies of the minutes to the attendees for the November 9, 2007 meeting. Jill Knobbe motioned that the Secretary’s minutes be approved. Sharon Wolf seconded the motion and the minutes were approved by majority vote of the members in attendance.

 

Treasurer’s Report:

 

Harvey Allen, in absence of Ed Dirck, treasurer, provided copies of the treasurer’s report to the members in attendance. According to the submitted treasurer’s report the Chapter’s balance as of March 14, 2008 is $12,363.94. Harvey Allen motioned that the treasurer’s report be approved as submitted. The motion was seconded by Jill Knobbe and approved by majority vote of the members in attendance.

 

 

 

 

 

Educational Chair Report:

 

The Educational Chair, Angela Hagins reported that IRWA Course 701- Property/Asset Management: Leasing and IRWA Course 703 Real Property/Asset management are being offered however, few have registered. So please contact to sign up.

 

Angela also discussed that anyone interested in becoming a course coordinator that they can take it on-line. The on-line coordinator class only takes 1 hour and furthermore classes are FREE.

 

 

Membership Chair Report:

 

Membership Chair, Gloria Nickerson, reported that we need more pledges for IRWA.  (Will call Gloria to obtain more info.)

 

 

 

Professional Development Chair Report:

 

Currently, we do not have any new SR/WA candidates. So please sign up for classes to start earning your SR/WA designation.

 

 

Old Business

 

Installation Banquet:         The installation banquet was well received. The restaurant on the Hill was a Chapter favorite.  A big “Thank You” goes to Bill Phelps for being a great auctioneer.  The auction raised $666.00

 

2007 Tax Returns: Ed Dirck submitted 2007 Tax returns for the Chapter. We were one of the few Chapters that had already submitted our tax returns.

 

 

 

New Business

 

Spring Forum, Deadwood, SD: Our Gerald Johnson, President attended the forum. Deadwood is an old mining town and the weather was “fabulous”.  Brief notes from the forum:  Chapter 72, 100 people strong.  They had a silent auction and raised $3,554.  Our chapter donated a fish aquarium to the silent auction.  Gerald Johnson met the Chapter 5 president from Kansas City.  They suggested having a joint meeting in the Columbia/Jefferson City area.  Any interest, let Gerald know. 

 

All course coordinators need to re-certify every two years.  Our website webmaster is hospitalized.  An online learning center is coming this spring where members can take courses online.  Chapter will receive $50 for each course taken online.  They are offered from the IRWA.  2009 is the diamond year for IRWA which is the 75th year.  Plans are ramping up for a celebration in Indianapolis.  Chapter 37 has decided to donate $300 to the IRWA golf outing.

 

Annual Education Conference in Austin, TX

 

Chapter 37 Bylaws Review:  Need to review and update bylaws.  They are legal and binding.  Chapter officers need to look over them.

 

Award Presentation to Professional of the Year 2007: Gerald Johnson presented a plaque to Cynthia Gan as she was chosen one out of ten candidates as the “Regional Professional” of the year.  Congratulations to Cynthia for this honor!

 

Cardinals Baseball game: Chapter 37 will have a Cardinals baseball game that includes Cardinal room with dinner buffet.  Date and time will be finalized in our next meeting in May.
